Answer, then add a detail
A short conversation becomes easier to follow when your answer includes one extra detail. Say what you do, when you do it, and perhaps why you enjoy it. You do not need a long speech. Speak at a comfortable pace and pause between ideas.
A: What do you do after class? B: I usually go for a walk. I walk in the park near my home because it is quiet.
Practise an open response
Speak for about thirty seconds: What do you usually do on a free afternoon? Include an activity, a time or place, and one reason. Then ask your partner a related question. If you do not understand, politely ask for repetition or a slower pace. You can practise aloud on your own.
Follow-up: Who do you usually go with? Clarification: Could you say that again, please? Pace: Could you speak a little more slowly, please?
Check your understanding.
